C-FIT Studio Success Stories

Meet Vickie

Meet Vickie! She is one of our long-time grinders who is one of the sweetest, hardcore mother-truckers out there. Don’t let her pretty face fool you. This girl works hard and smart, knows the law, and has really learned the art of maximizing her retirement, always going and doing and learning and seeing and traveling, and snuggling up with her fuzzybutt kitties at night.

Originally from Danville, Vickie grew up in Richmond and found her way to Tidewater after joining the Judge Advocate General’s Corps for the Navy, after which she moved to Suffolk (36 years and counting!).

She learned about C-FIT through a good friend from the yoga classes. “I took that first class and remained even after my friends did not stick with it because I enjoyed Connie’s teaching and the friendly, professional atmosphere of the studio. I eventually decided in the beginning of 2022 to work on improving my muscle mass with the help of weight-bearing exercise and began personal training with my fabulous personal trainer, Jessica! I have been at it ever since with Jessica’s expert help!”

Since working out at C-FIT, Vickie has seen “improved muscle tone and mass, strength, flexibility, balance, core strength and stamina.”

She continues, “I take ballet and tap dance lessons twice a week in addition to personal training, and I have noticed that I am a much stronger dancer as a result of my personal training. I also love to walk and find that I can walk long distances without being fatigued. I have had a health challenge during the time I have been at C-FIT. I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in the Fall of 2022 and underwent successful surgery with radiation. I believe that due to being more fit as a result of joining C-FIT that I healed quickly and maintained my usual stamina throughout surgery and treatment.”

Boy, let me tell you that she did. We did not back down on her workouts hardly at all, and this woman was a trooper. While I was always ready to modify the workouts and tone it down as needed, she was always ready to go and at least try her hand at challenging moves, no matter what her personal life threw her way. It’s amazingly impressive. And, as such, she’d lost no progress during that 2022 challenge.

“I think that what separates C-FIT from other studios in the area is that I feel like I am part of a fitness family at C-FIT. Other large chain studios can’t provide that same type of personal attention and atmosphere. I always feel like Jessica, Connie, and David care about me personally and care about me reaching my fitness goals.”

For those new to their fitness journeys, Vickie says, “step outside your comfort zone and push yourself to do things in your exercise routine that you do not think you can do. With perseverance, a lot of times you can do more than you think that you can do and you will be stronger and healthier as a result! I highly recommend personal training because not only is it designed just for you, but also you will have guidance as to how to properly perform the exercises.”

Vickie, you’re a doll to work with and a ray of sunshine. Thank you for letting us be a part of your success! You continue to impress us and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
