C-FIT Studio Success Stories

Meet Jen

Meet Jen! This Rockstar, “from the east coast”, has found her way up and down the Atlantic from Pennsylvania to South Carolina, landing in Virginia when her father retired from the Navy.

Though she drove by C-FIT all the time, it wasn’t until her “yoga-enthusiastic wife” (lol) encouraged her through the doors. With her wife’s help, she start training with Laura, and “That first time visit was the hardest, and I’m glad she pushed me into it.” (This speaks volumes about how important and special having a good support system is! We are so happy you have one, Jen!)

Before training with Laura at C-FIT, “I was experiencing knee and back pain. My toddlers were hitting 25 pounds and I was struggling to carry them. At work I was starting to feel old and slow. Now that’s all changed. I’m keeping up with all the younger staff at work, slogging through swamps and thick brush. Then I get home and all the kids pounce on me. They’re over 30 pounds now and I’m able to hold them at the same time. I can even lift them up over my head to my shoulders to be carried. I’m no longer struggling to get out of bed in the mornings from a stiff back, even after all the rough housing with the kids. There are a million tiny things I probably took for granted years ago that now are easy and pain free. I really am grateful for the guidance.”

This makes our hearts sing. It is always fun to chase lifting and aesthetic goals, but maximizing life and enhancing your experiences with your family… THAT’s what matters.

Regarding to how her training translates to outside of the gym, Jen says, “Everything we do translates to something outside the gym. Most of my favorite changes fit into this category. Like being able to get in my work truck without straining. Carrying groceries in the house without needing to stop and catch my breathe. Chasing and catching my speedy tots in the yard. I feel great most of the time. I’m more confident and happy with my body.”

She continues, “C-FIT feels more like a community than other gyms I’ve seen in the area. Everyone is friendly. I’m getting personal guidance through my fitness journey that has me excited to show up, even before the sun rises. There are lots of opportunities to meet other people and learn new things. It’s more than a room with weights and grunting strangers.” (lol; we may have literally laughed out loud at that one!)

So, Jen. What would you suggest to someone just starting out on their fitness journey?

It’s scary and maybe intimidating but the first step is never going to get any easier. Just do it. Or find someone to make you do it. And when that little voice in your head is telling you it’s a waste of time or that you can’t be better, just do it again. Just keep doing it.”

Lastly, would you recommend C-FIT to a friend/acquaintance? “Absolutely! We regularly recommend C-FIT to our neighbors, friends, and relatives. It’s always a good time to invest in yourself.”

Jen, we are honored and blessed to be a part of your wellness journey, and to have you as a part of our C-FIT family. We look forward to see what else you achieve as your children grow!
